Pass the Fire
Acts 1:8
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me.”
We were not filled with the Holy Spirit simply to enjoy a Pentecostal experience. We were filled to become witnesses and to participate in the mission of God.
The fire has a purpose.
The anointing has a purpose.
The power has a purpose.
The fire that falls upon us must also flow through us.
A genuine move of the Holy Spirit should never end with the person who experiences it. It should produce a greater passion for Jesus, a deeper compassion for people, a renewed burden for souls and a stronger commitment to the mission.
We must teach the next generation more than how to lead. We must teach them how to pray, how to hear the voice of God, how to depend upon the Holy Spirit and how to carry His presence with humility and integrity.
Methods will change. Styles will change. The next generation may not lead exactly as we have led. That is all right. The message of Jesus, the authority of Scripture, the power of the Holy Spirit and the mission of God must remain.
Our responsibility is not to produce copies of ourselves. Our responsibility is to form disciples who reflect Jesus and faithfully fulfill the assignments God has given them.
Healthy leaders do not hold people back to protect their own positions. They prepare people, empower them and release them.
The goal is not simply succession. The goal is multiplication.
We are called.
We are filled.
We are empowered.
We are sent.
Pentecostal leadership is not about carrying a title. It is about carrying the presence of God and advancing His mission.
Let us pray.
Father, fill us again with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Renew our vision, strengthen our hands and purify our motives. Give us wisdom to lead, humility to serve, courage to obey and faith to believe.
Help us pass the fire of Your Spirit and the urgency of Your mission to the next generation. Give us the heart of a shepherd, the courage of a prophet, the faith of an apostle and the compassion of Jesus.
May the fire never go out.
May the vision never die.
May our churches be filled with souls.
May our leaders multiply.
May revival spread from church to church, from city to city and from generation to generation.
May everything we do bring glory to Jesus Christ.
In the mighty name of Jesus, amen and amen.
Have a blessed and Spirit-filled Monday!
